Salem Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner OR Physician Associate to join our hospital-based Pediatric Hospitalist team in a part-time capacity, with the potential for expanded hours as our program continues to grow. This position offers an opportunity to work within a collaborative, patient-centered environment that values teamwork, quality, and compassionate care.
Our Pediatric Hospitalist team is an integral part of the Women and Children’s Services Division, providing care for hospitalized children and newborns in a setting that welcomes approximately 3,400 births each year. With the support of a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) staffed by Neonatal Nurse Practitioners and Neonatologists, as well as close access to pediatric subspecialists and Pediatric Intensive Care Units (PICUs) in Portland, our team is dedicated to delivering exceptional care to children and families across our community.
Shifts vary by schedule: 7:00am to 4:00pm (October–March), 7:00am to 1:00pm (April–September). Includes weekdays and weekends.
The Pediatric Hospitalist Medicine team includes eight pediatricians who work to provide 24-hour continuous and exceptional care. Salem Health’s Women and Children’s Services Division features a 10-bed Pediatric Unit offering both inpatient and outpatient services, a 26-bed Mother Baby Unit providing comprehensive postnatal care, an 18-bed Labor and Delivery Unit with 12 labor and six antepartum beds plus two operating rooms, and a 27-bed Level IIIA NICU dedicated to neonatal intensive care.

Provide care for inpatients, including unassigned patients with a central focus on infant evaluation, management of acute and ongoing care, and development of treatment plans

Performs health assessment of infants admitted to the newborn nursery

Management of patients in the mother baby unit may include daily physical exams, evaluation of progress, documentation via progress and procedure notes, writing orders, and discharge planning and notes.

Consults with physicians as appropriate to plan care.

Provides Family Centered Care including advocating for newborns and responding to special family needs.

Potential additional duties after a period of practice with the group include care and management of complex newborns alongside physicians.
