Duties
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately to process transactions quickly and efficiently.
- Greet customers warmly, answer questions, and provide product information to enhance their shopping experience.
- Handle cash, credit, and mobile payments with precision, ensuring proper cash handling procedures are followed.
- Upsell products by suggesting complementary items during checkout to increase sales and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the checkout area, including stocking shelves and merchandising products for maximum visibility.
- Conduct product demos when appropriate to engage customers and promote new or featured items.
- Assist with inventory management by stocking shelves, conducting stock counts, and alerting management of low inventory levels.
- Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette when handling inquiries or taking orders over the phone.
- Support merchandising efforts by arranging displays that attract attention and highlight promotions.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing concerns promptly and courteously, ensuring shoppers leave satisfied.
Qualifications
- Previous experience with POS systems and cash handling is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
- Supervising experience in retail or customer service roles is a plus, demonstrating leadership capabilities.
- Bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse customer needs effectively.
- Strong communication skills are essential for engaging with customers and team members alike.
- Basic math skills are necessary for accurate cash register operations and transaction calculations.
- Knowledge of grocery store operations or retail sales environments is advantageous.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate loads, and work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
