Position Overview
The Infection Preventionist / Staff Development Coordinator is responsible for leading the facility's Infection Prevention and Control Program while coordinating employee orientation, ongoing education, competency validation, and clinical training initiatives. This position ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including CMS, Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), and OSHA requirements.
What You'll Do – Infection Prevention Leadership
- Lead and maintain the facility's Infection Prevention and Control Program.
- Conduct infection surveillance, tracking, trending, and reporting.
- Monitor infection prevention practices through audits and observations.
- Investigate and manage communicable disease events and outbreak responses.
- Coordinate employee health initiatives and vaccinations.
- Serve as the facility's infection prevention subject matter expert.
What You'll Do – Staff Development & Education
- Coordinate and conduct new employee orientation.
- Develop and deliver educational programs for staff.
- Perform skills validations and competency assessments.
- Ensure completion of annual education and regulatory training.
- Support survey readiness and staff preparation.
- Mentor and coach clinical team members.
Qualifications
Required:
- Current Minnesota RN license in good standing.
- Minimum two years of nursing experience.
- Long-term care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or post-acute care experience.
- Strong communication, leadership, and teaching skills.
Preferred:
- CIC certification or willingness to obtain.
- Prior experience as an Infection Preventionist, Staff Development Coordinator, or Nurse Educator.
- BSN preferred.

Pay: $33.65 - $38.46 per hour
