American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Outpatient Surgery (Preop & Postop) position in Austin, TX, requiring at least 1 year of Preop and Phase 2 Postop experience and IV start proficiency.

Outpatient Surgery unit (Preop & Phase 2 Postop) located on the 1st floor of a hospital in Austin, TX
-
16-bed unit staffed with up to 8 RNs on day shift and 4 RNs on evening shift
-
Patient population includes a wide variety of surgical procedures, ranging from open heart surgeries to port placements and endoscopy
-
Patient ratios are 2:1 in Preop and up to 3:1 in Phase 2 Postop
-
Team nursing approach utilized in the Postop area
-
10-hour shifts, 4 days per week, with a combination of 5:30 AM–4:00 PM and 8:30 AM–7:00 PM shift times
-
No weekend or on-call requirements

EMR: Meditech (experience preferred)
-
Active TX RN license or a Compact RN license currently in hand

Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of assignment)

Minimum 1 year of recent Preop and Phase 2 Postop nursing experience required

Proficiency in IV insertion required

US SSN and date of birth required for consideration

One professional reference required

No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Responsibilities include Preop patient preparation, Phase 2 recovery monitoring, discharge education, and discharging patients home

Previous Meditech EMR experience is preferred

Scrub color is navy blue; hospital OR scrubs are also an acceptable option

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
