Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) specializing in addiction treatment to join our dedicated healthcare team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide comprehensive mental health services, focusing on substance use disorders, in a collaborative and patient-centered environment. As a PMHNP - Addiction, you will assess, diagnose, and develop individualized treatment plans for patients struggling with addiction, utilizing evidence-based practices and a variety of therapeutic modalities. Your expertise will help empower patients on their journey to recovery while working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional care.
Duties
- Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments and evaluations for patients with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions
- Prescribe and manage medications related to addiction treatment, adhering to DEA regulations and clinical guidelines
- Develop personalized treatment plans incorporating psychotherapy, medication management, and behavioral interventions
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, counselors, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care
- Educate patients and families about addiction, recovery strategies, and available community resources
- Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks
- Participate in clinical research initiatives and quality improvement projects aimed at advancing addiction treatment practices
Skills
- Proven experience working with individuals with substance use disorders and co-morbid psychiatric conditions
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology related to addiction medicine and medication-assisted treatment (MAT) protocols
- Familiarity with EHR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for efficient documentation and patient management
- Excellent communication skills for effective client engagement and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, mental status exams, and physical examinations
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality and secure handling of medical records
- Critical care experience or hospital medicine background is advantageous for managing complex cases in acute settings
- Experience working within collaborative practice agreements under state laws governing advanced practice providers
