Outpatient Clinic (Optum Serve Veteran Services)
As a Nurse Practitioner - Veteran Disability Assessor (C&P Examiner), you will perform Compensation & Pension (C&P) Examinations for Veterans and separating service members. This is a non-treatment, investigative role focused on disability evaluations and medical documentation.
You will conduct comprehensive medical examinations, review medical records, and provide objective medical opinions that assist the VA in determining service-connected disability benefits.

Instead, you serve as the medical expert responsible for providing accurate, evidence-based evaluations.

Perform Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) and Separation Health Assessments (SHAs).

Review Veteran medical records and relevant claim documentation.

Conduct focused and comprehensive physical examinations.
-
Diagnose medical conditions and provide objective medical opinions (nexus opinions) based on examination findings and medical history.

Order and interpret labs, X-rays, and other diagnostic testing when necessary.

Complete all documentation and submit examination findings through the online portal within 24 hours of the examination.
Patient Volume
-
1-3 Veterans per day, depending on exam complexity.
Exam Length
-
Average examination time is 1.5-3 hours.
-
More complex cases may require additional time.
Team Support
-
Collaborate with a local clinical team and Market Manager to ensure high-quality, objective examinations.

Active, unrestricted Colorado Nurse Practitioner license.
-
Experience in Primary Care, Occupational Health, or Disability Assessments is preferred but not required.

Strong physical assessment and clinical evaluation skills.

Comfortable using cloud-based EHRs and online documentation systems.

A commitment to providing objective, evidence-based medical evaluations for the Veteran community.
