TELAMON|TRC COMMITMENT TO TRAUMA INFORMED CARE:
Telamon|TRC has taken steps to shift our organization into a Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) model. This changes our perceptions about the individuals that we work with, employees and customers, including families and children. A trauma-informed system of care provides services that empower employees and customers, including families and children, to feel safe, welcomed and engaged at all levels of organizational interaction. Exchanges that could be potentially retraumatizing, or trigger traumatic reactions require thoughtfulness and non-judgement. POSITION SUMMARY:
Assists the leader of health and nutrition services within a program, guiding the health and wellness curricula, program planning, policy development and training. Contributes to program improvement through evaluations, self-assessment, and other program development efforts.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assists the Coordinator to develop, implement and evaluate systems for the delivery of health, nutrition, and safety services. Includes center and, where applicable, home base services.
2. Meets federal, state, and program documentation requirements by maintaining accurate, objective, complete, timely, and well-organized child and family records, both on paper and in designated on-line systems. Maintains confidentiality regarding students and families.
3. Monitor health and nutrition services throughout program. Collect and use quality data to support the use of effective practices that have a positive impact on family and child outcomes, including school readiness.
4. Participate in the development of integrated school readiness plans.
5. Assists in development of program training plan. Facilitates and provides training, coaching and technical assistance to staff, parents, and volunteers.
6. Assists in developing and monitoring of health and nutrition budgets. In coordination with supervisor who has responsibility for procurement of materials, identifies and prioritizes materials and equipment needed.
7. Works cooperatively with staff to integrate health and nutrition services with education, disability, parent engagement, and family services.
8. Creates, files and maintains reports and documentation as assigned. Composes and proofreads correspondence and reports.
9. Assist with implementation of health and mental health services advisory committee.
10. The person in this position must have the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
11. Protects the safety of children by ensuring the implementation of active supervision techniques to ensure no child is left alone or unsupervised at any time.
12. Ensures the mobilization and documentation of matching/in-kind funds.
13. Develop and document progress on professional development plan for self. Facilitates and engages in professional development activities to increase qualifications in accordance with the Corporation’s Core Values.
14. Participates in staff and parent meetings, committees, and training sessions.
15. Assist Health Coordinator with oversight of Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
16. Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
SAFETY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensuring a secure workplace is a collective effort. All employees are responsible for adhering to established safe work practices and completing all mandatory safety training by the assigned due date.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has no direct supervisory duties but is expected to train or explain work procedures to others.
ROLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience Requirements:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Health Education and Promotion, Public Health or *related field is preferred.
- Must be able to get certification for CPR and First Aid after hire and recertify as required.
- Minimum of one year of related work experience.
- Experience providing adult training and education preferred.
- Experience working with young children preferred.
- Must have a willingness to work towards any additional credentials needed to move to the next level in the position, this may include continued education.
- Must have own transportation, a valid driver’s license, and vehicle insurance.
- Degree in a related field is defined as an associate, baccalaureate, or advanced degree in a field other than health-related that either includes or is supplemented by twelve (12) college credits in health, nutrition, or social work.
Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of health resources in the community.
- Microsoft Office products and on-line client management systems.

Background Checks:
- All employees are subject to both a pre-hire and an annual background check. Specific rules by Area of Focus will indicate whether a state or federal fingerprint background check (or both) is required and the frequency. A fingerprint background check may suffice for a regular background check. Additional background checks may be required such as the Child Abuse and Neglect State Registry, and the Sex Offender Registry.
Positions that Require Driving:
- Telamon|TRC employees that are required to drive a personal vehicle for work-related duties are to meet the auto insurance liability requirement. The minimum limits required are $100,000 each person bodily injury, $300,000 each accident bodily injury and $50,000 property damage. The insurance liability requirement covers use of an employee’s personal vehicle.
- Telamon|TRC employees that drive a company-owned/rental vehicle must maintain a satisfactory annual motor vehicle record check.
