Material Handler
Department: Fabrication
Job Type: Full-Time (40+ hours/week)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM
Location: On-Site
We're looking for a reliable Material Handler to join our structural steel fabrication team. In this role, you'll keep production moving by safely receiving, staging, and transporting materials and finished products throughout our yard and shop. If you're detail-oriented, safety-focused, and comfortable operating heavy equipment, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Do
- Safely operate forklifts and telehandlers to move raw steel and finished products throughout the yard and shop
- Load and unload inbound and outbound deliveries
- Transport materials to staging areas based on job requirements, including tight maneuvers and precision placement
- Receive deliveries and verify contents against bills of lading and purchase orders
- Count, sort, and label materials and components upon arrival
- Stage materials for fabrication jobs according to drawings, job packets, and cut lists
- Communicate material shortages, damages, or discrepancies to supervision
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient yard and shop
- Communicate daily with fabrication teams, production staff, and project managers on material needs and priorities
- Assist with other production or yard tasks as assigned
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED required
- Proven experience operating forklifts and/or telehandlers (certification preferred)
- Prior experience in steel fabrication, construction, or an industrial environment preferred
- Strong attention to safety and equipment operation procedures
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 75 lbs
- Ability to bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods
- Familiarity with steel materials, construction equipment, and job drawings is a plus
- Strong communication skills and a dependable work ethic
