Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs and recognizing changes in condition; accurately document medical records using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems while maintaining HIPAA compliance
- Administer medications and manage medication schedules following prescribed instructions and safety protocols
- Provide specialized care for clients with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, or other memory impairments through tailored Memory Care techniques
- Support clients with medical procedures such as catheter care, hospice needs, or wound management while adhering to medical terminology standards
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with light housekeeping tasks including cleaning and laundry to maintain a safe and comfortable environment
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to ensure comprehensive home & community care plans are followed effectively
Requirements
- Proven experience in senior care, assisted living, nursing homes, or home health environments; long-term care experience is highly valued
- Strong knowledge of patient observation techniques, vital signs measurement, medication administration, and medical documentation practices
- Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR systems; understanding of HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
- Certifications such as CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), first aid, or specialized dementia/cognitive impairment training preferred
- Ability to work independently in a live-in employment setting; flexibility to accommodate client needs around the clock
- Excellent communication skills for working effectively with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges; compassionate approach to caregiving
- Physical stamina to assist with mobility tasks and perform light housekeeping duties; ability to lift or transfer clients safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts
