Equestrian Technician

About the Opportunity:
Do you love working with horses and sharing your passion for equestrian activities? Join our team as an Equestrian Technician at Haig Point Club & Community. This is a unique chance to work on a stunning, bridgeless island while contributing to a boutique equestrian program that delivers high-end, private equestrian experiences for members and guests.
This role combines hands-on horse care, facility maintenance, and contributing to programs like lessons, trail rides, and carriage tours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Horse Care: Perform daily stable chores, including feeding, stall cleaning, grooming, and maintaining the horses’ health and well-being. Administer basic equine first aid and monitor horse nutrition.
- Facility Maintenance: Assist in keeping the stables and surrounding areas clean, organized, and up to the standard of a private club and resort.
Additional Duties Depending on Skill Set:
- Trail Guiding: Lead trail rides for all skill levels, ensuring safety and enjoyment while showcasing the beauty of Daufuskie Island. Must memorize a script for instructions and facts about the flora, fauna, and history.
- Teaching: Teach private or small-group lessons for beginner to intermediate riders of all ages, with a focus on the English discipline.
- Carriage Driving: Drive our seasoned carriage horse through the community, providing a guided tour and delivering the highest degree of customer service.
- Camps and Seasonal Activities: Support equestrian programs for kids and lead occasional pony rides.
- Riding Opportunity: Assist with schooling and training horses as needed.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with horses and performing stable chores in a professional setting.
- Preference given to candidates with Trail Guide / Trainer/ Carriage Driver experience.
- Strong attention to detail, a collaborative attitude, and excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and solve problems effectively.
It's a plus if you also have one or more of the following;
- Ability to ride and comfortable leading guided tours for riders of all levels in western tack.
- Comfortable driving a horse and carriage with guests.
- Knowledge of riding theory, preferably in Hunter/Jumpers, Dressage, or Eventing and a passion for working with both horses and people of all skill levels.
