Position Summary
Draftsperson
Rakks is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative draftsperson to join our team and support the successful execution of custom shelving and storage projects. Rakks is the industry’s premier provider of timeless architectural shelving systems and support hardware. Our custom, modern designs, made in Massachusetts since 1971, can be found in some of the world’s most prestigious institutions.
The draftsperson position works closely with sales, engineering, production, and customers to translate project requirements into accurate technical drawings and fabrication-ready documentation. The right candidate brings strong drafting capabilities, excellent communication skills, and an appreciation for design, precision, and manufacturability. Key areas of impact include:
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Sales Representatives to understand customer needs, site conditions, and project specifications.
- Produce detailed 2D drawings and 3D renderings for custom shelving systems and custom parts.
- Maintain drawing standards, templates, and revision control.
- Coordinate with Production and Engineering teams to ensure drawings are accurate and buildable.
- Support continuous improvement of drafting processes and product libraries.
- Ideate custom solutions and collaborate with Engineering to implement them as required.
Experience and Qualities
- Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Drafting, CAD Technology, or related field.
- Proficiency in Onshape, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, SketchUp, or similar software is required.
- Experience producing shop drawings or custom millwork drawings preferred.
- Ability to read architectural and construction drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Sales experience of any kind.
- Knowledge of and experience with our key customers and market: architecture, design, custom furniture and fixtures.
- Enjoys working creatively and consultatively with a diverse, multi-disciplinary team.
- Is a strong personable communicator (written and verbal).
- Exhibits a high standard of ethics and values in relating to colleagues and clients.
Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
