Duties
- Provide daily care for animals including feeding, watering, administering medications, and monitoring health status
- Maintain cleanliness of kennels, cages, and common areas through thorough sanitization and grooming routines
- Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques to ensure their comfort and safety as well as your own
- Assist with pet boarding, pet sitting, and outdoor activities to promote physical activity and mental stimulation
- Support veterinary staff by observing animal behavior, noting any concerns, and assisting with basic animal restraint during examinations or treatments
- Perform routine cleaning tasks such as disinfecting surfaces, laundry, and waste disposal to uphold sanitation standards
- Engage with pet owners through friendly communication, answering questions about pet care services and facility policies
Requirements
- Prior veterinary experience or background as a veterinary technician or assistant is highly desirable
- Experience in pet sitting, dog training, or kennel work demonstrating strong animal handling skills
- Ability to lift heavy objects (team lifting encouraged) such as bags of supplies or large animals safely and efficiently
- Knowledge of animal behavior, grooming techniques, and pet care best practices
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions with outdoor work experience preferred
- Excellent customer service skills with a positive attitude toward pet owners and team members
- Strong attention to cleanliness and sanitization protocols specific to pet care facilities
- Ability to follow safety procedures related to animal restraint and handling at all times
