Job Description
The Fire Sprinkler Technician/Inspector will perform inspection, testing, maintenance, service, troubleshooting, and repair of water-based fire protection sprinkler systems in accordance with applicable NFPA standards, Texas State Fire Marshal requirements, local codes, and company quality standards. This role will document deficiencies, communicate findings clearly to customers and management, complete required reports and service paperwork, and help ensure that customer facilities remain compliant and protected. The successful candidate will be capable of working independently in the field, coordinating with office staff and project managers, maintaining tools and inventory, and representing Great Southwestern Fire & Safety with professionalism and strong customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, test, maintain, service, troubleshoot, and repair commercial fire sprinkler systems, including wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, fire pump, backflow, and related components as applicable.
- Perform work in accordance with NFPA standards, Texas State Fire Marshal requirements, local authority having jurisdiction requirements, and company procedures.
- Identify, document, and communicate system deficiencies and recommended corrective actions to customers and management.
- Complete inspection reports, service tickets, deficiency documentation, and other required paperwork accurately and on time.
- Coordinate with dispatch, project managers, sales, and operations personnel to support timely completion of service work and customer commitments.
- Maintain assigned company vehicle, tools, equipment, and inventory in a safe, organized, and professional manner.
- Follow all company safety policies and jobsite safety requirements.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain strong working relationships with customers, contractors, vendors, inspectors, and team members.
Requirements
- Current Texas RME-I license required.
- Hands-on experience inspecting, testing, maintaining, servicing, troubleshooting, or repairing fire sprinkler systems required; commercial fire protection experience strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of NFPA standards, Texas State Fire Marshal requirements, and inspection/testing documentation practices preferred.
- Ability to work independently in the field, diagnose system issues, and complete work safely and efficiently.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Strong customer service skills and a professional field presence are essential.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
- Ability to pass applicable background check, drug screening, and customer site access requirements.
- Ability to lift and carry tools and equipment, climb ladders, work from lifts or elevated areas when required, and perform physical field work in commercial facilities.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; NICET, backflow, fire alarm, or additional fire protection certifications are a plus.

Pay: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour
