A Battery Test Technician evaluates and validates the safety, reliability, and performance of battery cells, modules, and packs. They operate specialized lab equipment, monitor charge/discharge cycles, troubleshoot technical issues, and document data to ensure batteries meet stringent quality and engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Test Execution & Monitoring: Set up, configure, and monitor battery test beds, cyclers, and environmental chambers to conduct thermal, durability, and capacity tests.
- Instrumentation & Wiring: Install sensors (voltage, temperature, pressure) and fabricate test equipment, harnesses, and wiring diagrams.
- Teardown & Analysis: Disassemble battery packs and modules post-test for failure analysis and inspect individual cells.
- Data Documentation: Record and analyze test data, ensure calibration of metrology equipment, and report findings to engineering teams.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to strict high-voltage (HV) safety protocols and properly handle hazardous materials and heavy equipment.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education & Experience: High School Diploma or technical/associate's degree in Automotive, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering. Previous lab or high-performance testing experience is highly valued.
- Technical Skills: Basic fabrication, machining, and mechanical assembly skills. Proficiency in reading schematics and using multimeters or oscilloscopes.
- Safety Certifications: High Voltage (HV) safety training or certification is preferred
- Soft Skills: High attention to detail, strong problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to work collaboratively with scientists and engineers
