Overview
Join our dynamic finance team as a Staff Accountant, where your expertise will drive the accuracy and integrity of our financial operations. As a key contributor, you will ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), manage complex financial data, and assist in maintaining precise financial records that uphold our organization’s standards of excellence.
Duties
- Prepare and analyze journal entries, ensuring accuracy in the general ledger and adherence to accounting standards such as GAAP and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act).
- Perform account reconciliations for balance sheets, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank statements.
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes with meticulous attention to detail.
- Support payroll management activities utilizing software like ADP, Paychex, UltiPro, Kronos, or Ceridian to ensure timely and accurate employee compensation.
- Assist with financial reporting, including balance sheet analysis and account analysis to identify discrepancies or irregularities.
- Maintain and update financial data within various accounting software platforms such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, or Workday.
- Contribute to internal controls and audit processes by preparing documentation for external auditors and ensuring compliance with SOX requirements.
- Support budgeting processes and provide insights through data entry and financial analysis to aid strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate on governmental accounting projects if applicable, ensuring adherence to specific regulations and standards for non-profit or public sector entities.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, SOX compliance, and governmental accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, Workday, Ceridian, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro or similar platforms.
- Experience with payroll management systems like Paychex or ADP is highly desirable.
- Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy; familiarity with 10 key typing and double-entry bookkeeping is essential.
- Solid understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, account reconciliation, and general ledger accounting.
- Ability to perform detailed account analysis and balance sheet reconciliation efficiently.
- Strong mathematical skills combined with analytical thinking for credit analysis and budget support.
- Knowledge of tax regulations related to corporate or non-profit organizations is a plus.
