Position: Montessori Preschool Teacher
Classroom Setting: Multi-Aged Montessori Classroom, Students Ages 3-5 Years
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and support Royal Montessori Academy's Montessori curriculum.
- Prepare and maintain a beautiful, organized, and engaging Montessori classroom that encourages independence, concentration, and purposeful learning.
- Develop and maintain lesson plans, curriculum maps, student observations, and record-keeping documentation using the school's required systems.
- Present Montessori lessons individually and in small groups based on each child's developmental readiness.
- Observe student progress and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs.
- Maintain accurate records of lessons presented, lessons mastered, and student progress.
- Collaborate with co-teachers and administration to establish instructional goals and support student success.
- Utilize Brightwheel and other school-approved technology to enhance communication and documentation.
Student Growth and Development
- Foster each child's academic, social, emotional, physical, and practical life development through authentic Montessori practices.
- Guide students using Positive Discipline and Montessori Grace and Courtesy principles.
- Conduct ongoing formal and informal assessments through observation and documentation.
- Encourage independence, self-confidence, responsibility, kindness, and problem-solving skills.
- Create a prepared environment that supports joyful learning and exploration.
- Ensure the safety, health, and well-being of every child at all times.
- Guide student behavior in accordance with Montessori philosophy and Royal Montessori Academy policies.
- Maintain open communication with families through Brightwheel, conferences, progress reports, and daily interactions.
- Meet deadlines for lesson plans, assessments, progress reports, and required documentation.
- Build strong, professional relationships with students, families, co-teachers, and administration.
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, staff, and school matters.
- Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, flexibility, and teamwork.
- Attend staff meetings, professional development, in-service days, and school events.
- Support the mission, vision, and values of Royal Montessori Academy.
- Perform responsibilities ethically while demonstrating patience, kindness, and respect in every interaction.
Physical Requirements
The successful candidate must be able to:
- Sit on the floor and work at child-sized tables throughout the day.
- Bend, kneel, squat, reach, and move frequently within the classroom.
- Lift and carry children weighing up to 50 pounds when necessary.
- Supervise children indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Maintain an active presence while engaging with young children throughout the school day.
Education Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field.
- Meet Wisconsin Licensing qualifications for a Lead Teacher.
- Experience working with children ages 3-5 years.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, or a related field.
- Montessori Credential (AMI, AMS, NAMC, or equivalent), or willingness to complete Montessori professional development.
- Previous Montessori classroom experience.
Teaching Contract
Position Type: Full-Time, Academic Year
- 9-Month Academic Teaching Contract through June 2027
- Competitive salary based on education and experience
