Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty equipment, including trucks, farm machinery, industrial equipment, and construction vehicles. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, proficiency with diagnostic tools, and hands-on experience with diesel engines and heavy equipment systems. This position offers an opportunity to work on diverse machinery in a dynamic environment, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics, suspension systems, and HVAC components.
- Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire services, alignment checks, and shock & strut replacements.
- Use schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues.
- Fabricate parts or modifications as needed using welding, soldering, and power tools.
- Operate heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers for testing or moving machinery.
- Repair and service farm machinery and industrial equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
- Perform brake repairs, wheel alignments, and suspension work to maintain safety standards.
- Maintain accurate service records and ensure compliance with safety protocols during all repair activities.
- Assist in assembly or disassembly of large components for repair or replacement purposes.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic with dealership or industrial equipment background preferred.
- Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics, vehicle maintenance, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, and HVAC systems.
- Hands-on experience with heavy equipment operation including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers.
- Ability to read schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting complex systems.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other repair apparatus.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and work in demanding environments safely.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with mechanical expertise in automotive repair and service technician tasks.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record preferred; experience operating heavy machinery is a plus.
- Strong customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients regarding repairs and maintenance needs. This role is integral to maintaining the safety and efficiency of our fleet and machinery assets while providing opportunities for professional growth within the industry.
Pay: $35.00 - $50.00 per hour
