Duties
- Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, including collecting medical histories and vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates.
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure all necessary supplies and equipment are ready for patient procedures.
- Support physicians and nurses with clinical tasks such as medication administration, wound care, X-ray procedures, and basic life support during emergencies.
- Manage electronic health record (EHR) systems accurately by documenting patient encounters, ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases), and updating medical records promptly.
- Conduct patient education on treatment plans, medication instructions, and follow-up care to promote optimal health outcomes.
- Perform clerical duties including appointment scheduling, insurance verification, medical billing support, and maintaining organized patient files.
- Assist with specialized procedures across various departments such as dermatology clinics, hospital medicine units, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), OR (Operating Room), or Level I/II trauma centers as needed.
Experience
- Prior experience in a clinical setting within outpatient or inpatient environments is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology to support accurate patient care activities.
- Experience working in hospital environments such as Level I or Level II trauma centers or emergency departments is a plus.
- Familiarity with EHR systems and ICD coding for documentation purposes is essential.
- Previous exposure to diverse specialties including dermatology, internal medicine, geriatrics, medical-surgical units, or emergency medicine enhances your versatility.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications like X-ray operation or OR experience are advantageous.
