Assistant Yard/Warehouse Manager – Baton Rouge
Job brief
Traffic Commander is looking for an effective assistant yard and warehouse manager to implement day to day activities of a busy material yard. Must be a self-starter and can work both independently and with a team. Requires forklift operation, some paperwork, and email communication with company leadership.
The main goal is to ensure that daily business operations have adequate materials picked and ready to load for crews to complete their jobs that day. This person, under oversight and direction of the company inventory manager, will also aid in overseeing and maintain the levels of materials needed to complete ongoing and future road construction jobs.
A successful assistant yard manager is a reliable employee with the ability to implement and complete tasks as requested and stay productive to improve yard workflow.
Responsibilities
- Receiving, warehousing, distribution of job-related material
- Responsible for proper staging, loading and unloading of items throughout yard and warehouse
- Maintain yard facilities in a clean, organized, and orderly fashion.
- Ensure clean and efficient space utilization in warehouse, work areas and yard
- Assist is security/loss prevention
- Implement company’s operational policies and procedures.
- Enforce safety awareness
- Support field crews with parts, supplies, and equipment with resources maintained or stored at yard and warehouse
- Maintain supply inventory
- Monitor and maintain yard fence
- Available to answer alarm calls as needed
- Assist mechanics as needed with maintenance on company fleet
- Work with management team to continually improve work environment.
Requirements
- Reliable transportation to yard location in Baton Rouge
- Previous forklift operation experience
- Basic Computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook email)
- Good verbal communication skills; the ability to interact with multiple individuals working throughout company organization
- Safety-minded!!! and goal-oriented
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
