Port Truck Driver – Local Houston Drayage | Home Daily
Pay: $24.00/hour (60-70 hours/week straight time, no overtime) + Weekly Performance Bonus
Schedule: Monday–Friday | Start Time: 5:30 AM | End Time: 6–7 PM
Home Every Night – Local port & rail routes only. No sleeper cab lifestyle.
Truckman Transport is seeking experienced Port Truck Drivers for local drayage work in the Houston area. Our focus is container transport to and from the Ports of Houston, with steady lanes and reliable schedules.
Responsibilities
- Pick up and deliver containers from the Port of Houston to local destinations.
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure safety and compliance.
- Follow all DOT, state, and local traffic regulations.
- Use the PortPro app for dispatch and updates (experience preferred but not required).
- Properly secure all loads to maintain safety and prevent damage.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and logs.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch regarding schedules, delays, or issues.
- Keep trucks clean, safe, and report maintenance needs promptly.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A CDL license.
- Minimum 3 years of commercial driving experience.
- Familiarity with port operations and drayage strongly preferred.
- TWIC card required (or ability to obtain).
- Clean driving record with no major violations (no more than 3 moving violations in the past 3 years).
- Current DOT physical/medical certificate.
- Ability to operate 2016 or newer Freightliners with automatic transmission.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently while being part of a team.
- Must be able to report to Pasadena, TX 77507
Automatic Disqualifiers
- DUI/DWI in the past 5 years.
- More than 2 moving violations.
- Criminal convictions (vehicular).
- Failed drug or alcohol test.

- Oversize/OOG load experience
- Portpro app experience
- Local drayage experience
