Position Overview
The Production Manager (Expo Lead) specializes in managing exhibit/tradeshow, design, rental, and vendor management services projects produced and fulfilled in a fast-paced job-shop environment. Project Managers in this role successfully utilize and interact with estimating, ERP, cost accounting, and CAD/CAM systems to manage their projects. They can provide solutions for a variety of project demands while continually monitoring and managing project costs. This is a remote position with required travel for site inspections and onsite execution.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Client & Technical Consultation: Communicate directly with clients regarding the technical needs and design of their expo programs. Attend client meetings to identify needs, build comprehensive quotes, and manage project orders within our CRM.
- Exhibit & Tradeshow Management: Oversee the lifecycle of exhibit design and tradeshow rentals. Ensure all projects meet technical and production standards from initial design to final execution.
- Vendor & Print Management: Spec all printing needs, manage orders with vendors, and ensure all materials are processed and delivered on time.
- Financial Oversight: Ability to monitor, understand, manage, and control project costs and their impacts on project performance.
- Labor & Logistics: Utilize industry knowledge to appropriately book labor (navigating union vs. non-union requirements). Travel onsite to manage staff and perform hands-on technical work as needed.
- Drafting & Systems: Utilize CAD/CAM systems and Vectorworks for drafting technical diagrams. Manage data through ERP and cost accounting systems to ensure project accuracy.
Job Requirements
- Experience: 8+ years of relevant experience in exhibit design, tradeshow production, or expo-specific project management.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of technical drafting (Vectorworks) and experience with CRM/ERP systems.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of tradeshow layouts, booth design, and the fast-paced workflow.
- Labor Management: Proven ability to manage onsite staff and experience navigating union and non-union labor regulations.
- Communication: Strong ability to translate client needs into technical requirements and profitable project plans.
- Travel & Credentials: Ability to travel onsite as required for shows. Must have a valid Driver’s License and be able to pass a background check.
