Practical Nursing Supervisor
Location: Aurora, CO
Job Type: Full-Time | 40 hours per week | Hybrid (No Remote Work)
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:00AM – 5:00PM (Saturdays when needed)
Pay: Starting from $90,000 (commensurate with experience and education)
The Practical Nursing Supervisor is responsible for providing academic leadership, operational oversight, and faculty supervision for the Practical Nursing (PN) program. This position ensures the consistent delivery of high-quality nursing education by supervising faculty, coordinating instructional activities, monitoring student success, and supporting compliance with state regulations, accreditation standards, and institutional policies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Practical Nursing Supervisor works collaboratively with the Nursing Program Director to oversee the daily operations of the Practical Nursing program, promote student retention and success, support faculty development, and maintain program excellence. This position provides leadership in classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction while ensuring consistency in curriculum implementation and instructional quality. The Practical Nursing Supervisor reports directly to the Nursing Program Director.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Supervise the day-to-day academic operations of the Practical Nursing program.
- Provide direct supervision, mentorship, coaching, and support to Practical Nursing faculty, clinical instructors, and preceptors.
- Monitor faculty performance through classroom, laboratory, and clinical observations and provide constructive feedback.
- Assist in recruiting, onboarding, mentoring, and evaluating nursing faculty.
- Collaborate with the Nursing Program Director in faculty scheduling, course assignments, and clinical placements.
- Ensure faculty consistently implement the approved curriculum, course objectives, learning outcomes, and institutional policies.
- Monitor instructional quality and recommend improvements to promote student learning and program effectiveness.
- Lead faculty meetings and participate in program committees as assigned.
- Assist with curriculum evaluation, revision, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Monitor student progression, retention, and academic performance, making recommendations regarding student success, remediation, dismissal, and readmission.
- Collaborate with faculty to develop intervention strategies that improve student retention and NCLEX-PN success.
- Serve as a resource for faculty regarding instructional methodologies, classroom management, clinical education, and student concerns.
- Assist with preparation for state board approvals, accreditation visits, annual reports, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure compliance with Colorado Board of Nursing regulations, accreditation standards, and college policies.
- Review and maintain required academic records and documentation according to established deadlines.
- Coordinate with clinical partners to ensure quality clinical learning experiences.
- Participate in student orientation, pinning ceremonies, graduation activities, and other college events.
- Evaluate instructional resources, laboratory equipment, and educational materials to support program effectiveness.
- Promote evidence-based nursing practice and current educational methodologies throughout the program.
- Maintain professional competence through continuing education, professional organizations, and clinical practice as appropriate.
- Uphold ethical and professional standards consistent with the Colorado Nurse Practice Act.
- Foster a collaborative, respectful, and student-centered learning environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Nursing Program Director.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Work Experience
- Have a minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience demonstrating professional competence; and
- Have a minimum of two (2) years of experience in nursing education, faculty leadership, academic administration, or supervisory responsibilities; and
- Demonstrate knowledge of nursing education, curriculum development, faculty supervision, student success strategies, and regulatory compliance.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation.
- Graduate degree must be in nursing from a nursing education program with national nursing accreditation OR a bachelor’s degree in nursing from a nursing education program with national nursing accreditation and a written plan demonstrating progression in obtaining a graduate degree in nursing from a nursing education program with national accreditation.
- Hold a current, unencumbered nursing license with privileges to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Colorado.
Preferred Skills
- Master’s degree in nursing highly preferred
