Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, slicing, and measuring to support the cooking team
- Assist in food preparation and meal assembly according to menu specifications and dietary guidelines
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, adhering to food safety standards at all times
- Support the kitchen team during busy service periods by efficiently handling food prep tasks
- Follow proper food handling procedures to ensure safety and quality in all food items prepared
- Assist with inventory management by rotating stock and notifying supervisors of supplies needed
- Help with catering setup and serving as needed, ensuring timely delivery of meals for events or special orders
Experience
- Previous experience in a dietary department or dietary aide role is highly desirable
- Hands-on experience in food preparation, cooking, or restaurant settings demonstrates strong culinary skills
- Knowledge of menu planning, food safety protocols, and proper food handling techniques is essential
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment such as knives, slicers, and other prep tools is preferred
- Experience working in the food industry or catering environments will be advantageous
- Strong understanding of food service operations and meal preparation processes is important for success in this role
- Excellent knife skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure are valued qualities
