Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Affordable Housing Specialist-Resident Coordinator to join our dedicated team. In this pivotal role, you will serve as a vital link between residents and housing programs, ensuring that individuals and families in underserved communities access safe, affordable, and supportive housing opportunities. Your expertise will help foster stable living environments by providing case management, crisis intervention, and resource navigation tailored to high-risk populations, including those experiencing homelessness or mental health challenges. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact by empowering residents and promoting equitable housing solutions.
Duties
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with residents, landlords, property management teams, and community partners to facilitate housing stability and support services.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of residents’ needs related to housing assistance programs such as LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), Section 8, and other HUD (Housing and Urban Development) regulations.
- Provide case management services, including crisis intervention, addiction counseling referrals, and support for individuals with mental health conditions or high-risk populations.
- Assist residents with navigating complex housing policies, fair housing regulations, landlord-tenant law, and property management procedures using tools like OneSite or other property management software.
- Negotiate lease agreements, resolve disputes through effective communication and negotiation skills, and support residents in maintaining their housing stability.
- Coordinate with social services agencies to connect residents with additional resources such as employment assistance, healthcare access, addiction treatment programs, and mental health services.
- Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local housing regulations while ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
WHO YOU WILL BE
- You will bring a bachelor’s degree (preferred) with at least 2 years of relevant experience
or
· An associate’s degree with 4+ years of directly related experience
- You will possess deep knowledge of the New York City housing market, including housing subsidies and supportive housing programs
- You will demonstrate a proven ability to build and maintain strong partnerships with brokers, landlords, and housing stakeholders
- You will exhibit excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills, along with sound judgment and a consistently professional demeanor
- You will be flexible and willing to travel to potential housing sites as needed

Pay: $28.66 per hour
