This position starts in beginning of the 2026-2027 academic year.
As a tutor, you will work part-time (10-29 hours/week), in-person DURING THE SCHOOL DAY in Asheville City Schools.
To follow the high impact tutoring model, you will work at least 3 days a week, in-person with 1-3 students for 30 minutes at a time. This work will support K-5 students with their foundational literacy skills. Tutors will focus on the five pillars of reading: phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension.
You will become a part-time employee of Asheville City Schools, and as such will be paid hourly.
All tutors will participate in required professional learning during the school year. A paid initial training will be required upon employment start date.

Qualifications
- Valid Teaching Certification
- Strong tutoring and teaching skills
- Experience in curriculum development and lesson planning
- Proficiency in learning technology and classroom management
- Background in early childhood education and special education
- Experience working with children and adults in educational settings
- Ability to create engaging learning environments for diverse learners
