Controls Engineer
Location: Saginaw, MI
Compensation: Up to $45 an hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
About the Opportunity
[Confidential] is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer III to support manufacturing launch activities and automation initiatives at its facility in Saginaw, Michigan. This role will focus on control systems design, equipment installation support, automation troubleshooting, and startup activities within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong PLC/HMI programming experience, a solid understanding of electrical and controls systems, and the ability to support equipment launches from design through implementation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related technical field
- 5+ years of controls engineering experience
- Strong PLC programming experience
- Experience programming and supporting HMI applications
- Proficiency with AutoCAD
- Knowledge of electrical control systems and industrial automation
- Familiarity with electrical and safety standards
- Ability to lead projects and supervise technical activities
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Fanuc robot programming and troubleshooting experience
- Fanuc CNC experience
- Experience with industrial networking and higher-level control systems
- Automotive or high-volume manufacturing experience
- Equipment launch and commissioning experience
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop pneumatic and hydraulic piping diagrams
- Create electrical wiring diagrams and electrical control panel layouts
- Program and configure PLC systems
- Design and configure Human Machine Interface (HMI) software
- Troubleshoot, test, and debug automated control systems
- Provide startup and commissioning support for manufacturing equipment
- Support installation and integration of new tools and equipment
- Train plant personnel on control systems and equipment operation
- Conduct equipment validation and troubleshooting activities
- Travel to plant locations and supplier facilities as needed
- Participate in safety reviews and project meetings
- Ensure controls systems comply with established electrical and safety standards
Pay: Up to $45.00 per hour
