Qualifications
- Current certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT, PBT-ASCP, NHA, NCCT, or equivalent) required.
- Active RN, LPN, Medical Assistant, Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technologist, or related healthcare license/certification preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of recent phlebotomy experience in a clinical, hospital, laboratory, blood bank, or outpatient setting required.
- Previous teaching, training, precepting, or instructional experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of venipuncture, capillary collection, specimen handling, infection control, OSHA standards, and patient safety protocols.
- Ability to demonstrate phlebotomy procedures and supervise students during laboratory and clinical skills training.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and classroom management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and online learning platforms.
- Associate degree or higher in a healthcare-related field preferred.
- Ability to develop lesson plans, administer exams, evaluate student performance, and maintain accurate educational records.
- Current CPR/BLS certification required.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Phlebotomy Instructor Certification (CPI) or equivalent.
- Experience teaching adult learners in a vocational, technical college, or healthcare training environment.
- Experience preparing students for national phlebotomy certification exams.
Job Summary
The Phlebotomy Instructor is responsible for providing classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction to students enrolled in the Phlebotomy Technician Program. The instructor will teach venipuncture techniques, specimen collection and processing, infection control, patient interaction, and professional standards while ensuring students are prepared for national certification and entry-level employment.
