REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in legal studies, business, risk management, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the legal field, risk management, employee benefits, or a related area.
- Paralegal certification from an accredited program strongly preferred (e.g., NALA, NFPA, or FRP through The Florida Bar).
- Public sector, education, or government experience preferred.
- Experience with litigation support, document review, public records processing, and/or contract management preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License, or agreement to obtain one within thirty (30) days of employment if holding a
valid driver’s license issued by another U.S. state, unless accommodation is required.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Working knowledge of Florida laws and regulations applicable to school districts, including:
o Chapter 119, Florida Statutes (Public Records)
o Chapter 286, Florida Statutes (Sunshine Law)
o Chapter 1012, Florida Statutes (Personnel)
o Chapters 1000–1013, Florida Statutes (K–12 governance and facilities)
o FERPA, Title IX, ADA, FLSA, and related regulations
- Knowledge of Florida and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and applicable court rules.
- Strong legal research, analysis, and writing skills.
- Ability to review, organize, and analyze documents; identify issues; and make sound recommendations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe, and document management systems.
- Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion and sound judgment.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to meet deadlines and manage competing
priorities.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team environment.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, with a positive and professional customer-service orientation.
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
