Position Summary
Elevate Point is seeking a compassionate, experienced Trauma-Informed Yoga Instructor to facilitate therapeutic yoga groups for adults and adolescents receiving treatment for substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. The ideal candidate understands the impact of trauma on the nervous system and is skilled in creating a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment that supports healing, emotional regulation, and recovery.
This position works collaboratively with the clinical team to integrate movement, mindfulness, and breathwork into a comprehensive, evidence-based treatment program.
Essential Responsibilities
-Facilitate trauma-informed yoga and mindfulness groups for clients in PHP and IOP levels of care.
-Create a physically and emotionally safe environment that emphasizes choice, empowerment, and body autonomy.
-Adapt yoga practices to meet varying physical abilities, emotional needs, and recovery stages.
-Incorporate breathwork, grounding techniques, gentle movement, meditation, and nervous system regulation practices.
-Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and adhere to trauma-informed principles at all times.
-Collaborate with clinical staff regarding group objectives and client safety.
-Monitor participant well-being during sessions and communicate any clinical concerns to treatment staff.
-Arrive prepared with structured, therapeutic group plans.
-Maintain accurate attendance and any required program documentation.
-Comply with all agency policies, HIPAA regulations, OASAS standards, and infection control procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
-High School Diploma or GED required.
-Current Yoga Teacher Certification (RYT-200 minimum); RYT-500 preferred.
-Certification or formal training in Trauma-Informed Yoga required.
-CPR/AED certification preferred.
-Experience working with adolescents.
Preferred Experience
-Minimum of 2 years facilitating yoga with individuals experiencing trauma, mental health disorders, and/or substance use disorders.
-Experience working in behavioral health, addiction treatment, hospitals, community mental health, residential treatment, or similar settings.
-Knowledge of trauma-informed care, harm reduction, recovery-oriented practices, and person-centered care.
-Experience working with adolescents and/or adults in group settings preferred.

Physical Requirements
Ability to demonstrate yoga postures and movement safely.
Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and move throughout group sessions.
Ability to lift and transport yoga mats and light equipment as needed.

Schedule: Per Diem or Part-Time (Flexible)
Reports To: Program Director / Clinical Director
Work Setting: Outpatient Mental Health and Addiction Treatment Program (PHP/IOP)
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
