Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our team in a part-time capacity. Specifically, we are seeking to fill a Pediatric Occupational Therapist position to provide services in the afternoon or evening hours to patients in the clinic. As an integral part of our healthcare team, you will utilize your expertise to enhance patient independence, support recovery, and improve quality of life through tailored occupational therapy interventions. This position is ideal for professionals eager to apply evidence-based practices and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional patient care. Compensation is based upon experience and added compensation is available for services provided in the evening hours.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments to evaluate clients’ functional abilities, limitations, and needs across pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations.
- Develop and implement personalized treatment plans that incorporate therapeutic activities aimed at improving daily living skills (ADLs), motor skills, cognitive functions, and sensory processing.
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility to promote independence.
- Coordinate discharge planning by preparing clients for transition from hospital or facility to home or community settings, ensuring continuity of care.
- Manage medical documentation accurately within electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining compliance with clinical standards and medical terminology.
- Collaborate with speech therapists, physical therapists, case managers, educators, and other healthcare professionals to optimize client outcomes through clinical interprofessional collaboration.
- Support clients with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorders by implementing specialized occupational therapy programs tailored to individual needs.
- Provide education and training to families, caregivers, and school personnel on strategies to support clients’ ongoing development and integration into daily routines or educational environments.
- Engage in case management activities including progress tracking, adjusting treatment plans as needed, and documenting clinical outcomes effectively.
- Deliver occupational therapy services across various settings including outpatient clinics, schools for students with disabilities or special education needs, inpatient units such as skilled nursing facilities or acute care hospitals, post-acute care environments, home health visits, and outpatient programs.
Experience
- Proven experience conducting occupational therapy assessments in diverse settings such as outpatient clinics, schools, inpatient units or home health environments.
- Demonstrated expertise in assisting with ADLs and developing treatment plans for individuals with disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders like autism spectrum disorder.
- Prior involvement in discharge planning and case management within acute care or post-acute care settings is highly desirable.
- Experience working with pediatric populations through early intervention programs or school-based occupational therapy is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical documentation standards including clinical documentation procedures and electronic health records (EHR) management.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology related to physical rehabilitation occupational therapy and occupational health practices.
- Skilled in implementing evidence-based occupational therapy programs that support client communication skills and functional independence across age groups.
- Background working with individuals experiencing neurodevelopmental challenges or disabilities in inpatient or outpatient environments enhances your suitability for this role.
- Strong understanding of client-centered care principles combined with excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate within multidisciplinary teams.
