The Maintenance Technician at St. Dominic Village is a hands-on leader responsible for the daily maintenance operations of our campus, including skilled nursing, assisted living, and independent living areas. The individual actively performs maintenance duties while supporting the maintenance team.
This position ensures that all buildings, equipment, and systems are safe, functional, and well-maintained to provide a secure and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors. The Maintenance Technician supports regulatory compliance and promotes a culture of service aligned with our mission and values.
Key Responsibilities
Hands-On Maintenance & Operations
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on buildings, equipment, and systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry).
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders across the campus.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment and facility issues to minimize downtime.
- Assist with emergency repairs, on-call support, and disaster preparedness as needed.
Supervision & Team Leadership
- Work alongside maintenance technicians.
- Provide hands-on training, guidance, and support to team members.
- Ensure work is completed efficiently, safely, and to quality standards.
- Promote accountability, teamwork, and a strong customer service mindset.
Facility Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all life safety codes, OSHA standards, and healthcare facility regulations.
- Support readiness for inspections (state, federal, fire marshal, and internal audits).
- Conduct routine inspections of the property to identify and resolve safety hazards.
- Maintain documentation for maintenance logs, inspections, and preventative maintenance schedules.
Preventative Maintenance & Projects
- Implement preventative maintenance programs.
- Assist the Director of Facilities with planning and executing maintenance projects and renovations.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors as needed.
- Monitor inventory and assist with ordering supplies and parts.
Resident & Staff Support
- Deliver timely, respectful, and courteous service to residents and staff.
- Address maintenance concerns with urgency and professionalism.
- Contribute to a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade certification preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of maintenance experience, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Experience in healthcare, senior living, or multi-unit facilities strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret manuals, blueprints, and safety regulations.
- Basic computer skills for work order systems and documentation.
- Valid driver’s license may be required.
