Botkin & Hall is diligently seeking a full-time associate for our general practice law firm in South Bend. Our practice offers a range of interesting and diverse legal opportunities to a qualified candidate. We are exceptionally busy and in need of someone willing to dedicate themselves to contributing on a daily basis. The successful candidate will be immersed immediately on a hands-on basis in a range of legal tasks from legal research and writing to active participation in complex business and real estate transactional work and civil litigation, trial preparation and active courtroom participation at the State and Federal level. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong research and writing competence skills and a commitment to the practice of law. The position offers an employer contribution to health insurance and a retirement plan. Salary is commensurate with your experience.
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join our legal team. Duties
- Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case strategies across various practice areas
- Draft legal documents including contracts, motions, pleadings, and correspondence with precision and clarity
- Assist in trial preparation by organizing evidence, preparing witnesses for court depositions, and developing case strategies
- Represent clients in court depositions and other legal proceedings with professionalism and advocacy skills
- Manage case files efficiently using legal case management systems to track deadlines, filings, and client communications
- Negotiate settlements and legal terms on behalf of clients with confidence and strategic insight
- Provide clear and effective communication to clients regarding case status, legal options, and procedural updates
- Stay informed about statutory laws and procedural rules relevant to each practice area to ensure compliance and effective advocacy
Experience
- Proven experience in general & commercial litigation as well as personal injury law or employment law cases is highly desirable
- Familiarity with estate planning, environmental law, immigration law, family law, securities law, workers' compensation law, tribal law & regulations, patent law or related fields is preferred
- Demonstrated ability to conduct legal research using LexisNexis and Westlaw platforms effectively
- Experience preparing legal motions, conducting court depositions, and trial preparation is advantageous
- Strong writing skills with the ability to produce clear, concise legal documents under tight deadlines
- Prior law office experience involving client communication and case management is beneficial
- Knowledge of procedural laws across different jurisdictions enhances your effectiveness as an Associate Attorney
- Ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and professionalism
