In this vital role, you will provide personalized support in our Mother's home, or ensuring safety, comfort, and dignity. Your energetic approach and commitment to quality care will help or Mama maintain independence and improve het overall well-being. This paid position offers an opportunity to work closely with or Motherreceiving hospic care services.
Responsibilities
- Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts or catheter care as needed
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates to track health status
- Administer medications following prescribed schedules and document medication administration in journal
- Observe patient conditions closely, noting changes in behavior or health status related to dementia and other cognitive impairments
- Support with light meal preparation and nutritional needs while maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in the home environment
- Provide companionship and emotional support tailored to the needs of our Mother experiencing hospice or dementia care needs
- Assist with walking and transfers, using gate belt and walker
- Toileting and incontinence care
- Light housekeeping and laundry related to caregiving
- Keep our Mother engaged in brain health activities; such as art, puzzles, reading, music, tactile activities…etc.
Experience
- At least one year experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, home health agencies, or hospice care environments is highly preferred
- Hands-on experience assisting with complex medical procedures such as catheter care, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or cognitive impairments such as dementia is advantageous
- Certification in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) required; additional certifications like hospice care training or dementia care are a plus
- Ability to handle physical tasks involving lifting or transferring patients safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts; comfortable performing cleaning and laundry duties as part of comprehensive home care.
- Reliable personal transportation required, communicates well with family and hospice team, dependable, punctual and trustworthy
