DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Kitchen Lead is responsible for overseeing daily production activities on 2nd shift, ensuring food safety, quality, productivity, and team performance standards are met. This role provides leadership to production associates, supports training efforts, and ensures compliance with company policies, GMPs, and safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support production associates to achieve daily production goals, quality standards, and labor expectations.
- Follow machine setup, operation, and work instruction manuals for assigned production areas.
- Train and coach associates on equipment operation, work instructions, safety procedures, and GMP requirements.
- Monitor employee attendance, break and lunch compliance, dress code adherence, and workplace conduct.
- Ensure associates follow all GMP, food safety, and company policies, including restrictions on personal items in production areas.
- Reassign associates within the department as needed to support production demands and staffing requirements.
- Verify product specifications are followed and communicate any specification concerns or discrepancies to Quality Assurance.
- Conduct and document required metal detection and food safety checks in accordance with SOPs.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
- Communicate production issues, staffing needs, and operational updates to management.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Food Production Management.
Qualifications
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing, food production, or production environment preferred.
- Strong ability to motivate and develop team members while maintaining productivity expectations.
- Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced production environment with changing priorities.
- Positive, team-oriented attitude with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Basic math and recordkeeping skills.
- Ability to understand and follow safety policies, GMPs, SOPs, and quality standards.
- Basic computer and office equipment proficiency.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 8-10 hours per shift.
- Frequently required to reach, bend, stoop, and perform repetitive movements.
- Ability to work in a production environment while maintaining food safety and quality standards.
Preferred Skills
- Experience training and coaching production employees.
- Knowledge of food manufacturing processes, quality standards, and food safety practices.
- Experience working with production schedules, labor planning, and performance metrics.
