Position Summary
The Roamer is responsible for supporting quality assurance activities across production areas by conducting inspections, verifying product conformity, and assisting in resolving quality issues. This role ensures compliance with internal and customer requirements, fosters collaboration with production teams, and maintains detailed documentation of inspection results.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections on in-process and finished products to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
- Communicate quality concerns and nonconformities to production, quality, and leadership teams in a timely and accurate manner.
- Support First Piece Inspectors with verification activities and inspection report preparation.
- Maintain accurate records of inspection data, sampling results, and product approvals.
- Isolate and document nonconforming products and assist in determining root causes.
- Maintain measuring instruments and ensure calibration and proper functionality.
- Promote quality awareness by communicating defect trends and customer rejections to production personnel.
- Assist in the preparation, storage, and archiving of inspection reports and related documentation.
- Identify shortages in inspection tools and request replacements or new equipment when required.
- Adhere to confidentiality guidelines and protect proprietary information and processes.
Education and Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree or technical certification in Quality, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
- 1–2 years of experience in manufacturing, production, or quality inspection environment required.
- Familiarity with basic measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges).
- Knowledge of quality systems, inspection processes, and nonconformance procedures preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing setting with exposure to production floor conditions (noise, moving machinery, etc.).
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 35 lbs as needed.
