Under the direction of the Facilities Coordinator. Undertakes and performs daily routine manual work cleaning maintaining interior of the building(s) and exterior grounds. The employee shall perform on-going recurring tasks in accordance with established practices and standards of cleanliness and safety and will follow a regular maintenance schedule to ensure the interior of the facilities and the grounds are maintained clean and hazard free.
Responsible for maintaining inside and outside of buildings clean as per established cleaning and disinfecting procedures and as instructed. Responsible for performing minor semi-skilled interior building maintenance, repairs and installations and preparing facility and grounds for public access. Responsible for preparing building(s) for scheduled activities, classes or functions by cleaning, setting up and arranging rooms with necessary furniture, equipment and supplies as instructed. Responsible for maintaining cleaning and grounds keeping equipment in a clean and operational condition. Assists with facilities support functions. Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of floor stripping and scrubbing machine operation. Knowledge of safe use of cleaning methods, materials and equipment such as: various types of brooms, mops, mop ringer and bucket, dusters, floor sweepers and scrubbers, floor strippers and buffers, vacuum cleaners, ladders, step stools, leaf blowers, rakes, hoes, shovels, edger’s, lawn mowers, clippers, pruners, saws, hoses, sump pumps, hammers, screw drivers, chisels, stapler gun, axes, post hole diggers, wheel barrows, etc. Knowledge of proper and safe handling and storage of cleaning supplies, materials and equipment. Ability to properly and safely operate, maintain and fix mechanical cleaning and grounds keeping equipment. Ability to perform manual tasks requiring physical strength and stamina. Ability to lift up to seventy five (75) pounds. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to follow and comply with assigned work activities and schedules. Ability to establish and maintain effective and cohesive working relationships with co-workers, other staff and the general public. Ability to prepare and maintain written maintenance and grounds keeping logs. Bilingual English/Spanish.
