Position Overview
We are seeking a high-energy, results-driven Outside Business Development Representative to spearhead our growth in the government, city, and municipal sectors. In this role, you will be the face of our brand, establishing relationships with procurement officers, police departments, park services, public works, and military branches. Your primary focus will be navigating the B2G (Business-to-Government) sales cycle, managing competitive bidding processes, and securing fleet contracts for our electric motorcycles and gas-powered side-by-sides.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive B2G Revenue: Proactively identify, prospect, and close fleet sales opportunities within local, city, county, and state government agencies.
- Navigate Procurement & RFPs: Identify and respond to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), RFQs, POs, and government tenders. Manage the contract process from submission to close.
- Conduct Field Demonstrations: Organize and lead hands-on vehicle demonstrations and trials for city officials, fleet managers, and first responders to showcase the utility, ROI, and performance of our vehicles.
- Strategic Networking: Attend government procurement conferences, municipal trade shows, and association meetings to build a robust pipeline.
- Consultative Selling: Understand the unique needs of different municipal departments (e.g., sustainability goals for electric motorcycles vs. utility needs for gas SxSs) and present tailored fleet solutions.
- CRM Management: Maintain accurate records of all prospecting, pipeline activities, and contract timelines in our CRM.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 3–5+ years of successful outside sales experience, with a proven track record in Government/Municipal sales (B2G) or heavy fleet/automotive/powersports sales.
- Procurement Knowledge: Strong understanding of government purchasing processes, cooperative purchasing contracts (e.g., Sourcewell, GSA), and the RFP pipeline.
- Product Passion: A strong interest in or knowledge of powersports, electric vehicles (EVs), or utility vehicles is highly preferred.
- Communication: Exceptional negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills. You must be comfortable presenting to city councils and field operators alike.
- Travel: Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory for client meetings and vehicle demonstrations.
- Requirements: Must possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record (ability to tow a demonstration trailer is a major plus). Must have their own vehicle for travel to and from meetings.
