Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Employment Specialist/Job Coach to empower individuals with disabilities and those from underserved communities to achieve meaningful employment. In this role, you will serve as a vital connector between clients and workforce opportunities, providing personalized coaching, support, and guidance to help clients develop skills, overcome barriers, and succeed in competitive employment settings. Responsibilities
- Develop individualized employment plans tailored to each client’s skills, interests, and goals.
- Provide coaching on job search strategies, interview preparation, resume writing, and workplace etiquette.
- Support clients through the entire employment process—from job development to retention—by offering ongoing mentoring and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with employers, community organizations, and service providers to identify suitable job opportunities and facilitate placements.
- Conduct assessments to evaluate clients’ abilities, needs, and progress while maintaining detailed case management records.
- Offer training sessions on workplace skills, social skills, and disability accommodations as needed.
- Advocate for clients’ needs within the workplace by educating employers about disability awareness and inclusive practices.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of employment & labor law relevant to individuals with disabilities.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental, physical, intellectual, and learning disabilities.
- Background in helping individuals obtain employment and working with Vocational Rehabilitation/Social Security Administration.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for documentation and communication purposes.
- Proven ability to work effectively with culturally diverse communities and underserved populations.
- Experience in workforce development programs or social services environments is preferred.
- Strong coaching, mentoring, interviewing, recruiting, training & development skills.
- Excellent written communication skills for report writing and client documentation.
- Ability to manage multiple cases efficiently while maintaining a positive attitude and proactive approach.
