A surgery scheduler is needed for two orthopedic spine surgeons in private practice.
*MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE SCHEDULING AND OBTAINING AURHTORIZATIONS FOR SURGICAL PATIENTS*
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Includes but not limited to):
-Contact various hospitals and patients to coordinate surgery date
-Coordinate pre-op clearances including labs
-Obtaining authorization for the procedure from insurance
-Provides pre-certification of all procedures to ensure coverage and proper billing procedures
-Adding/changing/canceling a case; responding to physician's requests
-Post all cases according to division specifics to include general patient demographics, procedure, diagnosis, location, time of case and estimated time required for completion.
-Coordinate next day’s schedule
-Coordinate all added, emergency and changes to current day’s schedule with the designated physician.
-Coordinate with additional surgeons and reps as needed
-Performs other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
-Knowledgeable of basic medical terminology.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills including spelling.
-Ability to organize, maintain and present data.
-Ability to work effectively with staff, physician, and patients.
-Must have a pleasant disposition and high tolerance level to handle high-stress situations.
-Ability to work independently and with others to coordinate workflow.
-Excellent telephone etiquette.
-Display compassion with patients.
EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: Must have a minimum of 3-year scheduling experience in a hospital/surgery center, or high volume surgery practice.
