Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers equipped for transporting LP Gas, including tankers and refrigerated trailers, following all DOT (Department of Transportation) and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks, including checking for leaks, proper load securement, and compliance with hazardous materials regulations.
- Load and unload cargo using manual handling techniques or forklift equipment, ensuring proper handling of dangerous goods in accordance with hazardous materials regulations.
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems, optimizing delivery schedules while adhering to route driving best practices.
- Deliver LP Gas to designated locations with precision, ensuring timely and accurate delivery while maintaining safety protocols for hazardous materials.
- Maintain detailed logs of deliveries, cargo handling activities, and vehicle inspections in compliance with DOT and FMCSA standards.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery status, or any safety concerns during transit.
Experience
- Proven commercial truck driving experience with a focus on tractor-trailer operations, preferably involving hazardous materials or dangerous goods transportation.
- Hands-on experience operating manual transmission trucks, flatbed trailers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, or similar heavy-duty vehicles.
- Familiarity with logistics cargo handling processes including load & unload procedures for freight and hazardous substances.
- Knowledge of truck driving regulations governed by FMCSA and DOT to ensure compliance at all times.
- Experience using GPS navigation systems for route planning and execution in diverse environments.
- Ability to handle manual tasks such as manual handling of cargo or equipment safely and efficiently.
- Prior delivery driver experience with a strong emphasis on safety, punctuality, and customer service excellence is highly desirable.
