SMR Rapid Response is seeking an experienced and safety-focused Field Service Supervisor to lead crews supporting our environmental, industrial, and emergency response operations.
This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for supervising field personnel and coordinating work on projects including spill response, industrial cleaning, vacuum truck operations, hydro excavation, tank cleaning, equipment and facility decontamination, environmental remediation, waste handling, and site cleanup.
The Field Service Supervisor will work directly in the field alongside technicians, drivers, and equipment operators while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to customer requirements and SMR Rapid Response standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise Field Service Technicians, CDL Drivers, equipment operators, and other field personnel
- Serve as the on-site point of contact for assigned environmental, industrial, and emergency response projects
- Review project scope and communicate daily work assignments to field crews
- Coordinate manpower, vehicles, equipment, tools, PPE, and materials required for each job
- Lead environmental cleanup, industrial cleaning, spill response, and remediation activities
- Supervise vacuum truck and hydro excavation operations
- Oversee tank, pit, trench, and facility cleaning projects
- Supervise spill containment, product recovery, waste handling, and site cleanup activities
- Coordinate the setup and breakdown of hoses, pumps, vacuum lines, containment systems, and other specialized equipment
- Ensure crews safely operate equipment and follow established operating procedures
- Perform hands-on field work when necessary and assist crews in completing project requirements
- Conduct jobsite safety meetings and communicate hazards, responsibilities, and project expectations before work begins
- Ensure appropriate PPE is being used and all personnel follow site-specific safety requirements
- Maintain compliance with applicable OSHA, DOT, EPA, customer, and SMR Rapid Response policies and procedures
- Verify that assigned employees have appropriate training and qualifications for the work being performed
- Monitor field operations throughout the project and address safety, equipment, staffing, or operational issues as they occur
- Communicate project status, changes, delays, and additional work requirements to management
- Maintain professional communication with customers and customer representatives while on site
- Assist with documentation of additional work, changing site conditions, and project requirements
- Ensure company vehicles, equipment, tools, and supplies are properly maintained and accounted for
- Perform or oversee vehicle, equipment, and jobsite inspections
- Ensure equipment is properly cleaned, inspected, and returned to service after each project
- Complete and review daily field paperwork, time sheets, inspection reports, job documentation, waste documentation, and other required records
- Immediately report accidents, injuries, spills, equipment damage, or safety incidents to management
- Assist with emergency response operations and participate in the on-call rotation when required
- Respond to projects outside normal working hours when operationally necessary
- Maintain clean and organized vehicles, equipment, staging areas, and jobsites
- Perform additional duties based on project and operational needs
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous environmental, industrial, construction, emergency response, or related field experience
- Previous experience supervising or leading field crews
- Ability to safely direct employees working around commercial vehicles, industrial equipment, environmental hazards, and active jobsites
- Working knowledge of pumps, hoses, vacuum systems, pressure washing equipment, hand tools, and other field equipment
- Strong understanding of jobsite safety practices
- Ability to read and understand work scopes, safety requirements, and project instructions
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees, customers, and management
- Ability to organize crews, equipment, and resources in a fast-moving environment
- Ability to perform physically demanding field work when required
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and jobsite conditions
- Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, nights, weekends, travel, and emergency response assignments
- Ability to successfully complete required background screening, drug testing, physical examinations, and safety training
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of environmental or industrial field service experience
- Previous Field Service Supervisor, Foreman, Crew Leader, or Project Supervisor experience
- Experience with vacuum trucks and hydro excavation equipment
- Tank cleaning, confined space, or industrial cleaning experience
- Spill response and environmental remediation experience
- Experience handling and transporting regulated waste materials
- HAZWOPER certification
- OSHA safety training
- Confined Space Entry training
- First Aid/CPR certification
- CDL Class A or Class B
- Tanker and/or Hazmat endorsements
- Experience operating heavy equipment or specialized environmental service equipment
