Compliance Analyst

Position Summary
Covered Compliance is growing FAST! We’re looking for a driven, strategic, and hands-on Compliance Analyst to help take our compliance program to the next level. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with experience applying Consumer Regulatory Compliance within FinTech, consumer finance, and Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) environments, supported by an active CAMS certification or equivalent.
The Compliance Analyst will play a critical role in strengthening Covered’s Compliance framework, risk management practices, and regulatory compliance infrastructure. This position will help ensure the Company’s program remains risk-based, effective, and responsive to evolving regulatory expectations, emerging financial crime risks, changes in the business, and the complexities of operating within a BaaS ecosystem.
The Compliance Analyst will support and enhance core elements of the Company’s Compliance program through risk assessment, regulatory analysis, monitoring, testing, issue management, reporting, control development, and program governance. The role will translate regulatory requirements and identify risks into practical, scalable controls and processes that support effective compliance while enabling responsible business growth and innovation.
As both a strategic contributor and tactical executor, the Compliance Analyst will own and enhance key program components across Application Processing, 314(a) Requests, Issue Management, Compliance Testing, Regulatory Reporting, Complaint Management, and Transaction Monitoring. The role will directly influence how Covered identifies and manages consumer lending risk, demonstrates regulatory compliance, strengthens operational controls, and enables innovation and trust across the Covered ecosystem.
Primary Responsibilities
AML/CFT, OFAC & Regulatory Requirements
- Support administration and ongoing enhancement of the BSA/AML Compliance Program.
- Monitor compliance with applicable AML/CFT requirements, including Customer Identification Program (CIP), Customer Due Diligence (CDD), beneficial ownership, suspicious activity monitoring, and recordkeeping requirements.
- Manage and/or support OFAC screening requirements and related escalations.
- Manage 314(a) requests and coordinate appropriate research, documentation, and responses.
- Maintain awareness of applicable federal and state financial crime requirements.
Monitoring, Testing & Reporting
- Conduct risk-based manual and automated testing of consumer lending controls.
- Review monitoring outputs and identify potential control weaknesses, production defects, and compliance exceptions.
- Support development and enhancement of automated compliance monitoring.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual compliance reporting.
- Review and validate compliance metrics, trends, exceptions, and management reporting.
- Testing may be conducted monthly, quarterly, bi-annually, annually, or on a risk-based schedule.
Audits & Examinations
- Coordinate compliance responses to internal and external audits.
- Support Bank audits and examinations.
- Coordinate responses to state and regulatory examinations involving consumer lending.
- Prepare documentation, evidence, testing results, policies, procedures, and management responses.
- Track examination and audit findings through resolution.
Issue & Escalation Management
- Identify, document, escalate, and monitor consumer compliance related issues.
- Perform root-cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
- Monitor remediation through closure and validate that corrective actions adequately address identified risks.
- Escalate material consumer compliance risks to appropriate channels.
Key Regulatory Areas
- AML/CFT / OFAC / 314(a) / CIP / CDD / Beneficial Ownership / Red Flags / Identity Theft where applicable to financial crime risk / Applicable state BSA/AML requirements / Regulatory examination and audit requirements
- The position also provides subject matter support for ECOA, FCRA, Reg E, TILA, UDAAP, GLBA, FACTA, FDCPA, SCRA, MLA, TCPA, CAN-SPAM, E-Sign, and other consumer compliance requirements where a BSA/AML nexus exists.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, Criminal Justice, Compliance, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in FinTech, BSA, banking, financial services, or regulatory compliance.
- Strong knowledge of BSA, OFAC, CIP/CDD, and 314(a) requirements.
- Experience with compliance monitoring, testing, risk assessments, audits, and regulatory examinations.
- Strong analytical, investigative, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical business controls.
- Experience working with financial institutions, bank partners, servicing organizations, or third-party service providers preferred.
- CAMS or equivalent certification preferred.
