Responsibilities
- Assist with the installation and termination of structured cabling systems such as Cat5, Cat6, and fiber optic cables, ensuring compliance with industry standards like NEC.
- Support the setup and configuration of networking equipment including Cisco routers, Juniper devices, and Ethernet switches to establish robust communication networks.
- Conduct diagnostics using specialized tools such as ohmmeters, telecommunications testing equipment, and fiber splicing tools to identify and resolve system issues promptly.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on telecommunication systems, VoIP setups, radio frequency (RF) testing, and equipment repair tasks.
- Aid in the installation of telecommunication systems in data centers or commercial environments, following schematics and technical specifications accurately.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely to install low-voltage electrical wiring, network wiring, and communication system components.
- Support senior technicians in performing fiber optic splicing, cable termination, and equipment troubleshooting to ensure optimal system performance.
Experience
- Prior experience as a service technician or in a field service role within telecommunications or IT is preferred but not required; training will be provided for motivated candidates.
- Familiarity with computer networking concepts including LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), Ethernet protocols, and network installation procedures.
- Knowledge of telephony systems such as Avaya or similar platforms is advantageous.
- Hands-on experience with telecommunications testing equipment like OTDRs (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometers), multimeters, or similar diagnostic tools is a plus.
- Basic electrical experience working with low-voltage electrical wiring, NEC standards, and electrical safety practices is highly desirable.
- Ability to read schematics and technical diagrams accurately to support system installations and troubleshooting efforts.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients and team members alike.

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
