Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable and safety-minded Fuel and Lube Mechanic / Field Service Technician to support a heavy civil construction fleet of more than 100 pieces of heavy equipment. This position is responsible for fueling, greasing, performing oil changes, completing preventative maintenance, and assisting with field repairs on equipment used in earthwork, utilities, roadwork, site development, and related heavy civil operations.
The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently in the field while keeping equipment serviced, clean, safe, and ready for production.
Ability to speak Spanish is a plus
Key Responsibilities
· Fuel and grease heavy equipment, trucks, and support vehicles in the field and at the yard as needed.
· Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, including oil changes, filter changes, fluid checks, and lubrication services.
· Inspect equipment for leaks, damage, worn parts, safety concerns, and needed repairs during service.
· Assist mechanics with field repairs, troubleshooting, and replacement of parts as directed.
· Maintain accurate service records, inspection notes, fuel usage logs, and maintenance documentation.
· Operate and maintain fuel/lube service truck, tools, pumps, hoses, grease systems, and related equipment.
· Keep service truck stocked, clean, organized, and compliant with company safety standards.
· Communicate equipment issues promptly to foremen, operators, dispatch, and shop management.
· Follow all company safety procedures, environmental requirements, spill prevention practices, and jobsite rules.
· Travel between jobsites to support active construction operations and respond to service needs.
Qualifications
· Previous experience servicing heavy equipment, construction equipment, diesel trucks, or related mechanical systems preferred.
· Basic mechanical knowledge, including fluids, filters, lubrication points, diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and common wear items.
· Ability to identify maintenance issues and communicate repairs clearly and promptly.
· Valid driver’s license required; CDL, tanker endorsement, hazmat endorsement, and clean driving record preferred where applicable.
· Ability to safely operate a fuel/lube truck and work around active construction equipment.
· Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
· Must provide or maintain basic hand tools as required by company policy.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
· Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy parts, tools, hoses, buckets, and supplies.
· Ability to climb on and around heavy equipment, bend, kneel, squat, reach, and work in tight or awkward positions.
· Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, dust, mud, and uneven terrain.
· Ability to work safely around moving equipment, traffic, noise, fuels, oils, grease, and other jobsite hazards.
· May be required to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, overtime, or emergency call-outs based on project needs.

Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
