Overview
The Secondary Teacher is an integral part of the Upper School faculty, responsible for delivering a Christ-centered education that nurtures students spiritually, academically, socially, and physically. Teachers will prepare, develop, and select instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of a diverse learning population. The teacher will implement curriculum collaboratively planned with grade-level partners, instructional specialists, and school leadership, ensuring alignment with Gateway’s mission. The teacher will be responsible for supervising, monitoring, and evaluating students in a variety of settings as well as maintaining appropriate records aligned to school procedures and practices.
Responsibilities
- Plan a program of study delivering engaging lessons to facilitate students' understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
- Integrate biblical principles into all areas of instruction, fostering a Christian worldview in students.
- Develop students’ familiarity, competence and confidence with appropriate concepts, principles, methods and vocabulary
- Develop students’ understanding and applications of math in its wider context
- Create a classroom environment that encourages academic growth, curiosity, and critical thinking while maintaining a positive and engaging atmosphere.
- Assess student progress using a variety of formative and summative assessment methods.
- Utilize a variety of instructional methods, resources and evaluation techniques to motivate and enable students to achieve learning objectives.
- Maintain open communication with parents, providing regular updates on student progress.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers, guest speakers, and administration to enhance the curriculum and school culture.
- Demonstrate classroom management strategies that promote respect, responsibility, and a love for learning.
- Actively participate in school events, faculty meetings, and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications
- BA/BS or higher degree (required) in one or more of the following areas: Secondary Education, Mathematics.
- Must meet prerequisites to be certified through Gateway Christian Academy’s accrediting body.
- Strong personal faith in Christ, modeling Christian values and character.
- Passion for Christian education and a heart for discipling students.
- Ability to differentiate instruction for students with varying abilities.
