Position Title: Part-Time Accounting Assistant
Employment Type: Part-Time (25–30 hours per week)
Reports To: Accountant / Owner
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Part-Time Accounting Assistant to support day-to-day accounting and administrative functions. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with numbers, maintaining accurate financial records, and providing exceptional support to clients. The Accounting Assistant will assist with bookkeeping, payroll support, bank reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, and general office administration.
Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping
- Record daily financial transactions accurately.
- Reconcile bank and credit card accounts.
- Maintain and organize financial records.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Prepare journal entries as needed.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Process vendor invoices and payments.
- Prepare and send client invoices.
- Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on overdue payments.
- Maintain vendor and customer records.
Payroll Support
- Review employee timesheets for accuracy.
- Assist with payroll processing.
- Maintain payroll documentation.
- Resolve payroll discrepancies as directed.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare basic financial reports.
- Assist in compiling budgets and forecasts.
- Update spreadsheets and accounting schedules.
- Maintain accurate supporting documentation.
Administrative Support
- Organize digital and physical files.
- Answer client inquiries professionally.
- Schedule appointments and maintain calendars.
- Perform general office duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; associate’s degree in accounting or business preferred.
- 1+ year of bookkeeping or accounting experience preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience with QuickBooks Online & QuickBooks Desktop.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of GAAP principles.
- Experience with payroll processing.
- Familiarity with cloud-based accounting software.
- Experience working with multiple clients or small businesses is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to occasionally lift to 20 pounds.
Compensation
- Hourly pay based on experience.
