Job Summary
We are a small family real estate development company located in Fredericksburg VA. We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our financial operations and drive the organization’s fiscal health and growth. The CFO will oversee all financial planning, reporting, compliance, and risk management activities, ensuring alignment with our corporate strategy. This role demands a proactive leader with extensive experience in financial analysis, regulatory standards, and strategic management to guide the organization through complex financial landscapes and support sustainable development.
Duties
- Develop and implement comprehensive financial strategies aligned with organizational goals, including long-term planning and growth initiatives.
- Oversee corporate accounting functions, and other relevant regulations.
- Manage financial reporting processes, including the preparation of accurate financial statements, regulatory reports, and internal management reports for executive review.
- Lead risk analysis efforts to identify potential financial threats, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) and other industry standards.
- Supervise treasury management activities such as cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, investment strategies, and liquidity management to optimize fiscal resources.
- Oversee revenue management, profit & loss analysis, budgeting, expense control, cost management, and financial forecasting models to support business development and operational efficiency.
- Guide the finance team in conducting market analysis, financial modeling, and scenario planning to inform strategic decisions related to mergers & acquisitions or fundraising initiatives.
- Ensure rigorous compliance with all regulatory reporting requirements while maintaining high standards of ethical financial practices across the organization.
Requirements
- Proven experience in finance directorship roles with extensive accounting and finance expertise within diverse industries; experience in non-profit accounting is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of industry-specific financial regulations including GAAP, IFRS, IAS, ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition), COSO (Internal Control Framework), and industry best practices for risk management.
- Demonstrated success in strategic planning, financial analysis, business development, and corporate strategy implementation at senior leadership levels.
- Expertise in managing accounting systems and financial software tools for accurate data analysis and reporting.
- Exceptional leadership skills with experience supervising finance teams; capable of fostering collaboration across departments.
- Skilled in negotiation, regulatory compliance, financial report writing & interpretation, and developing complex financial projection models.
- Ability to analyze market trends through comprehensive market analysis to inform fiscal strategies that support organizational growth objectives.
- Strong understanding of governmental accounting standards when applicable; experience with supply chain cost control or expense management is advantageous.

Pay: $107,862.05 - $129,898.38 per year
