Job Purpose:
The Firefighter is required to deliver and maintain a compliant and operational rescue and firefighting service. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Firefighter to fully participate in the airport emergency services, including following the safety and emergency procedures as per applicable regulatory and operational requirements to ensure continuity and operational readiness across the airport.
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Fire Chief this position of Firefighter/EMT is responsible for the safe and acceptable performance of all firefighting functions, emergency medical first aid, assist and participate in all firefighting, lifesaving and security activities at the airport and its facilities, and to do related work as required. The Firefighter, as a crew member, will follow the leadership of the department in all the orders and written policies and procedures and all other written orders.
Essential Functions
- The Firefighter maintains a high standard of safety and work performance in the execution of their duties. This will include maintaining safe work practices and compliance with company, client, airport and governmental agency policies, rules, standards, and regulations, communicating any deficiencies and recommendations for correction to the Fire Chief.
- Complete all assigned daily duties as directed by the Shift Captain/Fire Chief.
- Driver Operator of ARFF apparatus as a Firefighter.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Shift Captain/Fire Chief, as the scope of the client services requires or broadens.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively to individuals and groups using good oral, written, and listening skills.
- Ability to carry out oral and written directions.
- Ability to prepare reports on the handling of routine or emergency duties.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in determining the appropriate action to be taken relating to job responsibilities.
- Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties, to include all client and airport co-employees.
- Must demonstrate good character appropriate to the requirements of the job.
- Must present an appearance consistent with other employee appearance standards.
- Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties, to include all co-workers/employees and Airport Administration.
- A thorough understanding of and demonstrated experience in NIMS and ICS Incident Command Systems.
- Working knowledge and proficiency in the operation of computer equipment and software programs used by the department, to include Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word and Excel.
Education, Qualifications, and Experience Necessary
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- College Degree (preferred)
Certifications & Licenses (Required)
- IFSAC, Pro-Board, or TCFP Firefighter I & II Certifications
- IIFSAC, Pro-Board, DOD or TCFP Hazmat Awareness & Operations Certifications
- NIMS 100, 200, 700, & 800
- CPR/AED certified and NREMT-B or TCFP EMT certified
Certifications & Licenses (Preferred)
- IFSAC, Pro-Board, or TCFP ARFF Driver/Operator
- IFSAC, Pro-Board,Airport Firefighter
- NOTE: If not certified to the above levels, must attain within 12 months of Date of Hire.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2 years of FF experience. This can be either military, DOD, or commercial aviation firefighting experience.
Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must have and maintain a State issued Driver License
- Must be able to pass a 10-year FBI Criminal History Record Check, and TSA Security Threat Assessment and maintain a SIDA badge. Must not have a DWI.
- This is a drug testing position
- Must be able to pass either a NON-DOT pre-employment and annual occupational health screening.
