Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Billing Specialist to manage our billing processes efficiently and accurately. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting and financial software skills, with a thorough understanding of corporate and governmental accounting principles. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for ensuring timely invoicing, account reconciliation, and maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive financial information. Your expertise in data entry, accounts receivable management, and financial concepts will contribute to the overall accuracy and integrity of our financial operations.
Duties
- Manage accounts receivable by tracking payments, following up on overdue accounts, and reconciling customer accounts regularly.
- Contact insurance companies to follow up on unpaid or underpaid claims and resolve billing issues including appeals at 50-60 claims per day
- Confirm prior authorization requirements before surgical procedures
- Conduct detailed journal entries, account analysis, and account reconciliation to support month-end closing activities.
- Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive or proprietary information related to financial transactions or personnel data.
- Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to internal inquiries regarding billing issues or account statuses.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in collections or finance roles with a focus on billing, and accounts receivable.
- Strong proficiency in EHR software such as NextGen or similar platforms.
- Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy; proficiency in Excel for data analysis and spreadsheet management is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to perform account reconciliation and balance sheet reconciliation accurately.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts such as debits & credits, journal entries, copays & coinsurance, EOB's, and knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding .
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Familiar with health insurance; proficient in Colorado Medicaid and government issued insurance
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- 1–2 years of medical billing or related experience
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
