Custodian & Housekeepers Job Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Housekeeping Accountabilities
- Performs day to day functions to maintain a clean, sanitary environment at Ravenna
- Follow established safety precautions when using equipment and supplies
- Cleans and disinfects resident rooms as scheduled or needed including vacuuming, mopping, dusting, disinfecting, and sanitizing entire bathroom(s), cleaning mirrors and pictures
- Cleans all floors to include sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, disinfecting
- Cleans all carpets to include vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing and disinfecting
- Clean, dust and/or polish any furnishings (tables, chairs, desks, cabinets, lamps/light fixtures, wall vents, handrails, ceiling fans, baseboards, blinds, silk florals, etc.) in hallways, all common areas, beauty salon, activity room, private dining room, etc.
- Checks sofas and chairs for crumbs or stains, vacuums, dusts and spot clean sofas and chairs
- Collects trash from resident rooms, offices, break rooms, and bathrooms daily. Takes trash to dumpster.
- Checks all courtyard areas for cleanliness and removes trash from cans daily
- Cleans and sanitizes common area restrooms
- Clean walls, windows and baseboards by washing, wiping off, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, deodorizing, etc. Keep all windows, cabinets, doors and mirrors smudge free and clean.
- Keep all equipment, storage areas/closets and carts clean and uncluttered, free of any hazardous equipment and supplies, etc.
- Perform other reasonable duties as assigned

o Perform daily tasks in professional, efficient manner
o Communicate and coordinate with teammates, admin and support staff
o Follow recommended shift task list and schedule consistently
o Be willing to learn, receive coaching, share best practices with teammates
o Participate in staff training, workshops and ongoing training (continuous improvement)
o Use and store all supplies and equipment safely and appropriately
o Practice universal precautions consistently (infection control, use of PPE)
Additional Duties
o Assist with resident move-ins / move-outs
o Participate in deep cleaning project(s) as assigned
- Inform management of all supply needs in a timely manner
- Report any needed repairs to maintenance personnel or admin staff
- Coordinate and support maintenance staff and/or supervisor as needed
o Monitor inventory and safe storage of supplies
REQUIREMENTS
· Prior experience in housekeeping, preferably in a healthcare facility
· Professional and respectful attitude
· Patience and composure in an emergency
· Able to relate to and work around ill, disabled, elderly, upset residents
· Maintain flexibility with work schedule to address unpredictable needs
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
· Must be able to lift, carry, stand, bend, squat, crawl, reach, kneel, push, pull, and twist, using good body mechanics for sustained periods of time
· Frequent grasping and handling
· Must be able to participate in any disaster, fire or evacuation process
· Must be able to walk approximately four miles per day
· Must be able to lift a minimum of 35 pounds
WORKING CONDITIONS
· Exposure level to bloodborne pathogens: Level I (exposure to blood or bodily fluids)
· Work in well-lighted, well-ventilated work areas
· Hours may vary; evenings and weekends may be required
· Work beyond normal working hours, weekends and holidays when necessary
· May be subject to infections, odors and/or hazards
Pay: $14.50 - $16.00 per hour
